Ultra- and Diafiltration (TFF)

As part of a replacement investment at the Bern site, a new cross-flow filtration system (TFF) was installed for the purification of human albumin. In ultrafiltration, the product solution is concentrated by continuously withdrawing the filtrate. In diafiltration, the amount of filtrate withdrawn is replaced by the same amount of another buffer. The plant is designed as a skid unit and was delivered completely prefabricated, so that only the product and media connections had to be made on site.
The maximum filtration area for processing protein solutions is 60m2.
The plant can be cleaned inline by means of CIP. The filter membranes are cleaned using a high-purity alkaline cleaning solution.

For the design and construction of this plant, various customer-specific requirements had to be met, such as limited space, pump type and hydraulics. TTSol was commissioned with the project as a long-standing and reliable partner of the customer. The plant technology was successfully planned and implemented in accordance with the high requirements resulting from the tight space conditions.
