Pure media

The project increased production capacity at the Thörishaus site with the expansion of a production plant. The generation and storage of the pure media Water for Injection (WFI), pure steam, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and compressed air are installed on the first floor of the building. The main distribution leads to the fourth floor, from where the fine distribution of the pure media to the process equipment on the third floor and to the ventilation systems on the roof takes place.
To safely avoid cross-contamination and to simplify maintenance, the distribution of pure media is divided into the two areas of Upstream/Downstream Processing (USP/DSP) and Bulk Drug Product Formulation. This subdivision is also found in the production rooms.
The required availability and quality of WFI is ensured by an innovative distribution system consisting of a breaktank, a loop and a subloop. The distribution system reduces the energy demand compared to classical distribution systems. The given space conditions in the existing building presented an additional challenge.

The client wanted to complete the project in an extremely short time and put together a team with established specialist planners. As a partner familiar with the requirements and conditions, TTSol was commissioned with the planning and realization of the pure media. Also with the help of 3D scans of the existing installations and the use of modern 3D CAD software, the clean media could be successfully planned and coordinated together with the customer.
