Pharmaceutical water and steam

With the Protinus project, the production capacity of CSL’s Privigen® (Human Immune Globulin Intravenous – IgPro10) product was increased at the Bern site with a new building and two additional modular plants. The production and storage of the pure media Purified Water (PW), Highly Purified Water (HPW), Water for Injection (WFI) and pure steam are installed in the multi-storey building on the third basement level and on the second floor. The distribution of the media takes place in two riser shafts over all floors. For Protinus, CSL Behring set the highest requirements in terms of project lead time and architecture.
In order to reliably meet the high demands on the quality and availability of pure media with a minimum of energy input, TTSol has developed an innovative cooling concept for WFI together with CSL Behring, among others. The hot stored WFI is cooled to operating temperature by means of eight multi-stage heat exchangers with heat recovery.
Pure steam is generated with redundant generators feeding a likewise redundant distribution network.

Due to the very short realization time, the client decided to realize the project with established planning companies. TTSol, as a partner familiar with the localities and the specific customer requirements, was entrusted with the planning of the pure media systems. The plant technology was successfully planned in accordance with the high requirements of architecture and coordination.
